There is many reasons why the movie industry has stagnated in recent years. One, they rarely make films for adults anymore, one that will make a person, think and feel, about the story and characters. It's all about the money, a Blockbuster. The major audience now, is made up of mostly young boys, ages thirteen or so.So you get all those idiotic comic book movies, old TV sitcoms, etc. Action shows, where they use tons of dynamite to blow up buildings. The kids love those and come back again and again. Hence those movies make money. Films that are intelligent, and they still make a few, usually by independent film makers, take time to grow, and spread with word of mouth. The film exhibitors, won't wait that long, if it doesn't make momey in the first couple of weeks, they stop showing it.One more thing, now it seems to be all about the actors, who get those $20,000,000.00 paychecks, irregardless of how the movie does, or even if its good. They seem to forget, if you don't have a decent writer, writing a decent script, it's all garbage. It's entertainment. It's the story that counts, if the words aren't on the page, the actor, can't say them, the director, cannot direct it, The cinemaphotograher, can't film it. And we as an audience, can't watch it.It's the same with T.V. all for that magic audience of 18 to 39 year olds. We know how fickle they are.Anyone, who watches the old movies on channels like TMC etc, and see's the performances and those great actors of the past, realizes, just how much we have lost. It's a pity, as the movies are a truly American art form.
