Default Quick Help for Newbies

Using the Search features effectively:

First, decide if you wish to search the entire board or just one forum.
Second, go the forum or from the main board, use the search function which is found on the top row in the blue section.
Third, click on it and will be a drop down.
Fourth, decide if you want the regular search or the super search to kick in.
Fifth, see instructions below.

Now suggestion, if you are looking for floor info go to the commercial and flooring sections first before searching the entire site. This helps to alleviate a lot of unnecessary posts from showing up. The example below is a good reason to do this. To a human it means look for Tea, to a computer is means search for everything that has the letters t e a in it... example Team uniforms.. etc

Key Word(s): *tea, tree try this way...

another way,
Search: Key Word(s): "tea tree" use the quotes keys.. around the phrase.
Search: Key Word(s): "tree"

two options,
1. search - show threads
2. search - show posts

now that is fairly easy, if you know it was a title then - show threads, if you know it was in the body, then show posts.

Next handy tip is as follows;
Do not post without proof reading. Some will say sure, so what I can spell.
Well now, it is spelling to some people and business relations and professionalism to others.

Now.. consider that I am thinking of a question I am frustrated, and I vent in the post asking for help. That is the proof reading that I am/we are more concerned with.

We can all get over someone who does not spell or speak the same as you do, big deal, so I am a Canadian, and I spell most things the British English way, this will not harm or cause foul to most people. I have been asked only once why I spelled it that way and I simply stated it is British/Canadian spelling, the person said great thanks. Good communication. E.g. cheque/check

If you proof read the message out loud, and your six year old asks you why you are so angry, is this a proper post. If you have ever heard quotes from people then consider the following quote by Will Smith, actor and singer; “If you can say it in church and not offend anybody there, then it is ok to put it in a song.” (Not 100% quoting, just paraphrasing here)

If you look at the main board you see a category. Well then that is the best place to post questions. These questions are good and are worth posting just try to put them in the right area.
e.g. I clean residential and I have a question about stripping a vinyl or lino floor. (P.S. Good luck unless you have knowledge and the right equipment).

Now you do residential, but if you search that forum, you will not find too much info there, go to the Commercial or Flooring forum, search and if nothing found post your question in the right forum. If you need clarification then post in the right forum.

The BIGGEST tip to give you ever is…. Before posting a question do some research first. Why, if we give you the fish you never learn to fish for yourselves. If we teach you to fish, then you can stand on your own two legs (or wheelchair) and learn to do business for yourself.

Remember the board is here to assist and to increase the awareness and knowledge of all the participating members. We are not here to tell you step by step how to do your job and how to bid. (Franchise, = big bucks) We are just other business owners that came together for a sense of community, friendship and assistance. We all wish to make the Cleaning Profession a profession to be proud of.. Everybody here new or old (in business not age, although that is important as well.) can contribute. We all learned things from somewhere, from other jobs and other experiences, and other scenarios in our journey through life.
